OldVersion :- http://www.oldversion.com/

Sometimes upgrading to a newer version can be a good thing. Other times, your computer may not be compatible with the new version, the new version is bloated, or all the options you liked are no longer available. OldVersion.com has been supplying the online community with old versions of various programs since 2001. The service is utilized by thousands of users every day and has been featured in newspapers and magazines as well as on radio and television.

OldVersion.com has several objectives. One is to discourage the use of spyware by software companies. Also known as adware, these hidden programs come bundled with certain applications and secretly transmit user information via the Internet to advertisers. It is sometimes possible to avoid spyware by downloading an older version of a program. Use OldVersion.com and show the industry your dissatisfaction with these types of business practices.

OldVersion.com assists computer users who are unable to continually upgrade their computer. Those who find that their machine is not able to run the latest version of a certain application have no choice but to use an old version of the program. Unfortunately, the vast majority of software companies do not offer this opportunity. We are doing our small part to help bridge the digital divide by allowing everyone to enjoy the same software titles regardless of their hardware.
We believe that every computer user has the right to use a version of the product that he or she is most comfortable with, not the one dictated by the software developer, so we provide access to the files that are no longer obtainable. BulletProof Software is one company that recognized this right and helped us to build our archive. One day, we hope to see both small companies and major corporations with their very own, easy-to-find old version section.

Lastly, there is a need to archive cultural artifacts. If software is allowed to disappear into the past, a piece of history is lost. People must have access to this data in order to understand the direction of computer industry and civilization as a whole.

Follow This:-

Slow Start Up

There can be a variety of reasons to Windows loading slow during start up. Go to Run, type msconfig and hit enter. Under the ‘Start Up’ tab, uncheck the unwanted programs and press OK. Things should be a bit fine the next time Windows boots.

Another program worth mentioning here is StartUp Delayer which will help in setting after how much time programs should be loaded after Windows boots. For instance, you could set your instant messenger program to load 50 seconds after Windows starts up.

Start Up Delayer:- http://www.r2.com.au/page/products/show/startdelay

Slow Right Click Context Menu

Probably the Windows Right Click menu on your computer is loading slow because too many programs added unwanted entries there. Just use any number of the free right-click tools available to modify your context menu to remove unwanted items and speed it up.

Slow Send To Menu
If the Send To menu loads slowly, you can type ‘sendto’ in the Run Dialog, and remove unwanted items in the Explorer Window that appears. This should add some speed to it.

Slow Defragmentation

The Windows Defragmenter can’t get any slower. You need to have an alternative to the Windows Defragmenter, and Defraggler is just one of the best ones available in the market. It’s free, and works like a charm and can speed up defragmentation manifold.

Defraggler:- http://www.defraggler.com/

Slow loading Add or Remove Programs Applet

This is one of the most annoying piece of programs present in Windows, it takes ages to load if you have a considerable number of programs installed on your computer. You can either use the all-in-one CCleaner for this purpose, or get MyUninstaller that comes as a speedy replacement for Add or Remove Programs.

CCleaner:- http://www.ccleaner.com/

Slow Ending of Unresponsive Programs

If you’ve clicked on ‘End Task’ if any program is running unresponsive, you might have noticed that the program is not terminated immediately. You can alter this by going to Run >> regedit.exe >> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetControl and change this value to 1000.

Disable Animations and Appearance Overhauls to maximize performance

Windows Media Center Alternatives

Hello World..!!

Increasingly, more and more people are turning to internet-based solutions to consume their content. Many of them are switching to solutions that hook up to televisions. I find the best solution with the most control is a Media Center PC. Some people, however, do not turn to this option due to the lack of flexibility in the Windows Media Center software. I am going to tell you about some of the best FREE Windows Media Center alternatives that I have found.

MediaPortal ““ MediaPortal is an open source alternative to the Windows-based Media Center software.

It is compatible with Windows only and sports a customizable interface that, by default, looks very similar to the Windows Media Center interface.

The main benefit to this program besides being open source is its vast collection of plug-ins.

This makes it very simple to add utilities to the application such as new functionalities, skins, and numerous codecs.

GB-PVR ““ This open source solution is very similar to MediaPortal.

In contrast, however, GB-PVR requires a more advanced pre-configuration but provides more plugins than MediaPortal out of the box.

This program also seems more to have minor bugs here and there but is a worthy alternative.

MythTV ““ This solution is a very complex solution but provides probably the most flexibility out of any media center alternative I have seen to date.

The previous mentioned solutions install on top of the Windows operating system. MythTV, however, runs on top of a Linux distribution or Mac OS X on a dedicated machine. This means you have to use the computer for MythTV only and nothing else. For many people this is probably not an ideal solution as it requires knowledge of Linux and hardware that is compatible with Linux.

This solution is for advanced media center users that are looking for a much more advanced solution. Not only does this machine run off of a dedicated box but also has built in gaming, webbrowsing, news, telephony, and DVD ripping. MythTV can be used standalone or in conjunction with multiple MythTV servers to create a “cluster” of media centers that can perform various functions.

TVersity ““ TVersity is perhaps the best of both worlds in regards to MythTV and the other mentioned solutions. It installs on Windows PC and allows you to create a library with the media on that machine as well as internet content and stream it across your network.

It includes support to stream content to a plethora of devices such as Xbox 360, Wii, iPhone, PSP, PS3, as well as other PCs on your network. With some advanced configuration you can also stream your media across the web, however I find it to be a more worthwhile tool for home network usage.

On the downside, TVersity doesn’t support TV tuner cards which means it cannot be used as a DVR or to watch live TV but the vast list of supported devices should make up for it.

NOTE:- There is XBMC and Plex Media Center also available. Both of them are best, But try to get XBMC. XMBC is best in the market. There is only those programs added which is not popular like other

Windows 8 Top 10 Secrets

Hello World..!!

Top Ten Tips or Secrets for the Windows 8.

1. Get More Out of Your Multiple Monitors

Fclip_image001[6]

If you have multiple monitors, you've probably noticed that Windows extends your taskbar across both screens. It does more than just that, though: you can press Win+PgUp to move your current app to your left monitor, and Win+PgDn to move it to the right monitor. In addition, if you go to the Desktop Background section of your Personalization settings, you can right-click on any individual wallpapers and choose which monitor you'd like it to show up on. Of course, if you like things the old way, you can also turn off the dual taskbar in Taskbar Properties.

2. Hide Recent Files from Your Jump Lists

F

clip_image002[6]

Jump Lists were a great addition in Windows 7 that helped boost your productivity, but their "Recent Items" feature were a possible privacy concern—say, if there were documents or files you didn't want others to know you had viewed. Windows 8 lets you customize Jump Lists more than Windows 7, giving you the option to hide recently opened items and recently opened programs. To access the preferences, just right-click on the Taskbar, go to Properties, and click the Jump Lists tab.

3. Tweak the Number of Rows on the Start Screen

clip_image003[6]

By default, the Start screen fills your monitor up with as many rows of tiles as it can fit, up to 6 rows. If you'd like to lower that number—maybe you have a particularly cool background, or your groups just aren't that big—you can tweak this number by editing the Registry. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to let you pack more tiles onto smaller monitors, but it's a cool little tweak if you want to give your Start screen a more minimal look.

4. Take Faster Screenshots

F

clip_image004[6]

For a long time, Windows had an absurd screenshot shortcut in which you had to press Print Screen, then open up an app like Paint or the GIMP and paste in your screenshot from the clipboard. Well, no more! Now, if you press Win+Print Screen (or Win+Volume Down on a tablet), Windows will take a screenshot of your screen and automatically save it in your Pictures folder as a PNG file. It still isn't as powerful as something like Skitch, but if you only need the occasional screenshot, it's nice to see a simpler shortcut built in to the OS.

5. Create and Name App Groups on the Start Screen

F

clip_image005[6]

When you first open up the Start screen, you'll notice that some of your apps are in their own "groups." You can create your own groups just by dragging an app's tile to an empty space on the Start screen—it'll create its own group. If you want to name your groups—say, for "Work," "Games," and so on—you can do so by clicking the small button in the bottom-right corner of the screen and right-clicking on the groups.

6. Customize More Icons in Windows Explorer

clip_image006[6]

Remember in Windows 7, when you created a library, it had that ugly, nondescript icon? And you had to go through some complicated process to change it? Well, Windows 8 now lets you customize your Library icons right from its settings. Just right-click on the Library, go to Properties, and you should see the option to change the library's icon right at the bottom. Bonus tip: If Windows Explorer's Favorites icon is getting in your way in the sidebar, you can right-click on the sidebar to hide it (sadly, you can't do the same for Libraries, Homegroup, or other annoying icons).

7. Enable the Secret Start Screen Animation

clip_image007[6]

When you first sign onto Windows 8, you get a very cool flow-y animation of all your tiles filling up the screen. After that, though, the Start screen has a much more toned-down animation. If you want to enable the cooler animation for every launch of the Start screen, you can do so with a simple Registry tweak. You can also customize certain settings for the animation too, which is pretty cool.

8. Enable the Hidden "Aero Lite" Theme

clip_image008[6]

When Windows 8 was in the testing phases, it had an additional "Aero Lite" theme that took away some of the transparent glass features of Windows Aero. However, the final version of Windows 8 opted for a much more basic theme than the testing builds, so Aero Lite no longer shows up—however, you can still find it in the Themes folder on your computer. With a few small tweaks, you can re-enable it in your Personalization preferences. It isn't too different from the default themes, but it does give a slightly different look to the title button bars and some other small parts of the OS.

9. Customize the Apps in the Search Bar

F

clip_image009[6]

When you start searching from the Start screen, you'll see a list of apps under the search bar. Click on one of them, and you'll search those same terms in that specific app. What you may not know is that you can tweak this list, removing and adding apps through Windows 8's settings. Bring up the Charms bar (with Win+C), click Settings, and go down to "Change PC Settings." From there, choose Search from the left sidebar, and turn off the apps you don't want taking up space in this menu.

10. Run Automatic Maintenance on a Schedule

clip_image010[6]

Windows 8 has a new feature that runs automatic maintenance tasks like software updates, security scanning, and other diagnostic tests daily. By default, it runs them at 3AM, of if you're using your computer, the next time your computer becomes idle. You can change this time in the Action Center, as well as tell Windows whether you want to wake your computer up to perform these tasks. You can also perform the maintenance manually from the Action Center, if you desire.

Top Extension for Chrome - 2013

Hello World..!!

Chrome Browser have lots of Extensions, but some are great. Try these Extensions to maker your browser more powerful and productive.

1. Ayima Redirect Checker

Hands down, no question, this is the extension that I use the most. Instead of having to remember to check every page for redirects and then manually copying in every URL in order to detect a redirect chain or a misplaced 302 redirect, I simply land on a page and look up at the search bar. Ayima will show what type of redirect exists (if there is one) and when you click on it, it will show you the redirect path, which is handy for fast identification of redirect chains.

Fair warning: This is an addictive extension. While it is helpful to see how competitors sites are arranged, you will find yourself analyzing every site you visit and exclaiming “WHAT?” out loud in the library when you realize that you’re favorite shopping or sports news site is losing all of its equity with a badly placed redirect chain.

2. Canonical Inspector 0.2.2

This is a newer addition to my must have list, which makes sense given the increasing importance of correctly using canonical tags for sites. Imagine how easy it will make your life to arrive at a website and automatically know if: 1) there is or isn’t a canonical tag on the page and 2) the canonical tag matches the current page or a different page. In a matter of seconds you will know if you need to spend the time to go in to the coding and inspect the canonical tag or if your page is good to go.

3. Mozbar

Always a winner, Mozbar is a great one-stop-shop for a lot of the important information you need or want for a given page. The updated Mozbar lets you customize your searches by search engine and location, as well as easily highlight the different types of links pointed to a page (followed/no-followed, internal/external). As always, Mozbar displays important SEO metrics for the page, root domain and subdomain, including but not limited to the page authority, domain authority and mozRank™.

4. Page Insights (by Google)

Although many elements affect a page’s rank and visibility, ensuring a good page speed load time cannot be overestimated. For starters, if a page takes too long to load, you are likely to lose users in the process, which is the whole purpose of the page. Secondly, search engines know this, which is why page speed load time remains an important factor in rankings and page authority. The Page Insights (by Google) extension is the same as their PageSpeed Tools, but instead of going to a different site and copying in URL by URL, you can see the same statistics and recommendations on your page as you analyze it. While this still requires checking your pages manually, it is conveniently located on page. If you don’t have access to the Insights API this is the next best thing.

5. User-Agent Switcher

This is a pretty cool extension that I came across recently and is definitely a great new tool. When you click on this extension, a drop down list of common user agents appears (you can see a full list too), which the extension will mimic, so that you can see how your page would look to different crawlers. The great thing about this extension is that it will show you other browsers, search engine bots and even an iPhone or iPad. That’s a lot of useful information sitting in one small extension.

Plus, when it is spoofing another agent, the extension wears sunglasses. To be honest, I’d download it just for that.

6. G New Doc

Although this extension is not technically an SEO tool, it is one of the most useful that I’ve come across. More and more of the SEO tools I’ve encountered, and many of the clients I’ve worked with, use Google Drive for almost everything. Having the ability to click a button and generate any Google Doc template (or access any of your existing documents) without having to go to your Gmail account and into Google Drive each time is awesome. It saves time and frustration and actually makes me use Google Docs much more frequently, which in turn means I share more with my coworkers and increase efficiency across the company.

7. Social Metrics for Current Page

This is the extension that Tom Anthony from Distilled created and discussed in his post last December. It’s pretty basic, but in the best way possible. Instead of adding features that no one really needs, the extension tells you exactly what you want to know: how popular is this page on social media sites? It pulls Google Plus’s, Tweets and Facebook Likes for whatever page you are on.

8. Firebug Lite for Google Chrome™

I’d take a bet that most of you already have this extension installed, but I’ve decided to include it in the list because even though it is not the best tool for technical analysis it is still a staple of my SEO tool library. Firebug Lite allows users to inspect HTML elements and live edit CSS. However, in Firebug’s own words: “Firebug Lite for Google Chrome is not a substitute for Firebug, or Chrome Developer Tools. It is a tool to be used in conjunction with these tools.” I’m inclined to listen to them.

9. Web Developer

This is a good example of an extension with which Firebug Lite should be used. Just like its counterpart in Firefox, the Web Developer tools allows you to disable JavaScript & CSS Styles, as well as see lots of other pertinent information all at the touch of a button. It’s a personal favorite for a quick and dirty check of a page’s crawlability

10. Scraper

One of the things I’ve learned in SEO is when to know to use someone else’s tools or words instead of your own. In this case, I think Scraper explains itself better than I could: “Scraper is a Google Chrome extension for getting data out of web pages and into spreadsheets.” As you can imagine, there are infinite uses for this tool, including but not limited to keyword research and competitive analysis.

Best 10 Tips of Google Chrome

Hello World..!!

Google Chrome is best browser at the time. Its Fast Loading, Fast Searching, Secure Search and with lots of extensions. Its almost complete browser but you can increase the productivity of the browser more with these tips.

1. Open Multiple Pages on Startup

Rather than just one trusty homepage, you can get Chrome to open several pages as it starts up, giving you instant access to whatever sites and services you prefer to start your day with.

It's easy to setup. Just click on the wrench icon on the top right of your browser window, select "Options" and under the "Basic" tab check the box where it says "on startup... open the following pages."

If you click "Add" it brings up a list of recently browsed sites to choose from, or you can manually enter a URL in the box at the top.

Now, the next time you fire up your browser, those pages will be automatically loaded in the order in which you entered them, saving you some precious time.

2. Pin Tabs in Place on the Browser Bar

If you are going to be using a site or service a lot in one web session, you can "pin" a tab in Chrome, which will shrink the window down to the size of the favicon, leaving more room for multi-tasking. It also prevents tabs from getting lost on the side of the screen when you have many open at once.

To do this, right-click on the tab you want to pin and hit "Pin tab." To enlarge the tab, just right-click and hit "Pin tab" again to uncheck the option.

3. Turn Your Favorite Websites into "Desktop Apps"

There's another option open to you in Chrome if you want fast access to a favorite site — turn the site into what could be loosely described as a desktop app.

To do this, navigate to the site you want to desktop-ize, head over to the wrench icon on the top right of your browser window, select "Tools" and then click on "Create application shortcuts."

This will then bring up a window that gives you the option to create shortcuts on your desktop, in your start menu, or on the quick launch bar and you can check or un-check the boxes to make your selection.

If you opt for desktop you'll instantly see an icon for the site appear on your desktop display, as per the grab below:

Now, double-clicking on that icon will load up that website in a separate window with no navigation tabs, giving it the feel of a native desktop application — so it could be great for webmail services.

4. Add a Home Button to the Toolbar

Chrome boasts a minimalist design that many love, but there are some users who just need to have a "home" button to click.

Adding a home button to Chrome is very easy — just click on the wrench icon at the top-right, select "Options," and under the basic tab you'll see a check box for "show Home button on the toolbar." Hit it and you'll never be homeless again.

5. Carry Out Calculations in the Omnibox

In addition to being a URL bar and a search field, Chrome's "omnibox" is also a basic calculator. Rather than load up your computer's calculator, Google or Wolfram Alpha, you can just type your mathematical query into the omnibox and the result will show up where you'd normally see auto-suggestions.

Beyond simple sums, this also works for unit conversions like feet-to-meters, pints-to-liters, etc,.

6. Use AutoFill to Auto-Complete an Address

If you find yourself typing your address time and time again, you might want to consider Chrome's AutoFill options which can remember it and save you the repeat effort.

To activate the feature, click on the wrench icon, select "Options," then click on the "Personal Stuff," then choose "AutoFill options." By selecting "Add address," you can enter your details. The next time you are presented with a form, you won't have to manually type it all in.

You can also choose to add a credit card via AutoFill, but for security reasons we'd advise thinking twice before going down that route.

7. Use Chrome URLs to See History, Bookmarks & Downloads

Chrome can show you some of your browser data and settings via special Chrome URLs, which is a handy way to see the info in your browser — especially as all options are searchable.

You can view your bookmarks, downloads and history by typing "chrome://bookmarks," "chrome://downloads," or "chrome://history" in the omnibox.

8. Make a Favicon-Only Bookmarks Bar

There's yet another cool way to get quick access to your favorite, or most-visited sites in Chrome. Plus, it looks pretty cool.

You can get Chrome to display your bookmarked sites in the toolbar, but by deleting the site's name from the bookmark settings, the browser will just show the site's favicons, making for a colorful display along the top of your window.

To get this going, you'll first need to make sure you have the bookmarks bar displayed. You can check this by clicking the wrench icon, selecting "Tools" and then ticking "Always show bookmarks bar."

Once you've done this, as you add new sites to your bookmarks, be sure to delete the text in the name box, as per the screen shot below, for a favicon-only list.

Alternatively, to edit existing bookmarks so that they display favicon-only, go to "chrome://bookmarks," right-click on the bookmark, select "Edit" and then delete the text in the name box.

To add the bookmarks to your bookmark bar, simply drag and drop them from your bookmarks list.

9. Sync Your Chrome Settings to Your Google Account

This isn't the most exciting tip, but it's darn useful if you work or play across multiple computers. You can sync your Chrome settings to your Google account so all those preferences you've taken time to set up, and all the bookmarks you've saved along the way, will follow you wherever you go online.

Simply click the wrench icon, go to "Options" and under "Personal Stuff" you can "Set up sync" by signing in to your Google account. This will now mean all your Chrome settings will sync wherever you sign in with your Google account.

10. Play a Trick on Your Chrome-Using Buddies

If you've a buddy or a work-mate who uses Chrome, you can use the "developer tools" functionality to play a really clever trick on them, should they step away from their computer at any time.

When on a webpage, right-click and choose "Inspect element." This will split the screen to view the page code. In this view, you can select and over-type the text that appears on the page and replace it with wording of your own choosing, or even change measurements, colors, etc. if you've got a basic grasp of HTML.

Here are a few more familiar webpages we "edited" via the "Inspect element" function. As you can imagine, a sneaky couple of minutes at a friend's computer as they wander off for a comfort break and you could really have them going.

Top 10 Computer Security Tips

Hello World..!!

1. Use "anti-virus software" and keep it up to date. Make sure you have anti-virus software on your computer! Anti-virus software is designed to protect you and your computer against known viruses so you don't have to worry. But with new viruses emerging daily, anti-virus programs need regular updates, like annual flu shots, to recognize these new viruses. Be sure to update your anti-virus software regularly! The more often you keep it updated, say once a week, the better. Check with the web site of your anti-virus software company to see some sample descriptions of viruses and to get regular updates for your software. Stop viruses in their tracks!

2. Don't open e-mails or attachments from unknown sources. Be suspicious of any unexpected e-mail attachments even if they appear to be from someone you know. A simple rule of thumb is that if you don't know the person who is sending you an e-mail, be very careful about opening the e-mail and any file attached to it. Should you receive a suspicious e-mail, the best thing to do is to delete the entire message, including any attachment. . If you are determined to open a file from an unknown source, save it first and run your virus checker on that file, but also understand that there is still a risk. If the mail appears to be from someone you know, still treat it with caution if it has a suspicious subject line (e.g. "Iloveyou" or "Anna Kounikova") or if it ortherwise seems suspicious (e.g., it was sent in the middle of the night). Also be careful if you receive many copies of the same message from either known or unknown sources. Finally, remember that even friends and family may accidentally send you a virus or the e-mail may have been sent from their machines without their knowledge. Such was the case with the "I Love You" virus that spread to millions of people in 2001. When in doubt, delete! If you receive an e-mail from a trusted vendor or organization, be careful of phishing, a high-tech scam used to deceive consumers into providing personal data, including credit card numbers, etc. For information about "phishing" go to the FTC document titiled "How Not to Get Hooked By a Phishing Scam", http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/alerts/phishingalrt.pdf. The best way to make sure you're dealing with a merchant you trust, and not a fraudster, is to initiate the contact yourself. Type the merchant's address into your Internet browser instead of clicking on a link in an e-mail.

3. Protect your computer from Internet intruders - use "firewalls." Equip your computer with a firewall! Firewalls create a protective wall between your computer and the outside world. They come in two forms, software firewalls that run on your personal computer and hardware firewalls that protect a number of computers at the same time. They work by filtering out unauthorized or potentially dangerous types of data from the Internet, while still allowing other (good) data to reach your computer. Firewalls also ensure that unauthorized persons can't gain access to your computer while you're connected to the Internet. You can find firewall hardware and software at most computer stores and in some operating systems. Don't let intruders in!

4. Regularly download security updates and "patches" for operating systems and other software. Most major software companies today release updates and patches to close newly discovered vulnerabilities in their software. Sometimes bugs are discovered in a program that may allow a criminal hacker to attack your computer. Before most of these attacks occur, the software companies or vendors create free patches for you that they post on their web sites. You need to be sure you download and install the patches! Check your software vendors' web sites regularly for new security patches or use the automated patching features that some companies offer. Ensure that you are getting patches from the correct patch update site. Many systems have been compromised this past year by installing patches obtained from bogus update sites or e-mails that appear to be from a vendor that provides links to those bogus sites. If you don't have the time to do the work yourself, download and install a utility program to do it for you. There are available software programs that can perform this task for you. Stay informed!

5. Use hard-to-guess passwords. Mix upper case, lower case, numbers, or other characters not easy to find in a dictionary, and make sure they are at least eight characters long. Passwords will only keep outsiders out if they are difficult to guess! Don't share your password, and don't use the same password in more than one place. If someone should happen to guess one of your passwords, you don't want them to be able to use it in other places. The golden rules of passwords are:

  • A password should have a minimum of 8 characters, be as meaningless as possible, and use uppercase letters, lowercase letters, symbols and numbers, e.g., xk2&LP97.
  • Change passwords regularly, at least every 90 days.
  • Do not give out your password to anyone! For enhanced security, use some form of two-factor authentication. Two-factor authentication is a way to gain access by combining something you know (PIN) with something you have (token or smart card).

6. Back-up your computer data on disks or CDs regularly. Experienced computer users know that there are two types of people: those who have already lost data and those who are going to experience the pain of losing data in the future. Back up small amounts of data on floppy disks and larger amounts on CDs. If you have access to a network, save copies of your data on another computer in the network. Many people make weekly backups of all their important data. And make sure you have your original software start-up disks handy and available in the event your computer system files get damaged. Be prepared!

7. Don't share access to your computers with strangers. Learn about file sharing risks. Your computer operating system may allow other computers on a network, including the Internet, to access the hard-drive of your computer in order to "share files". This ability to share files can be used to infect your computer with a virus or look at the files on your computer if you don't pay close attention. So, unless you really need this ability, make sure you turn off file-sharing. Check your operating system and your other program help files to learn how to disable file sharing. Don't share access to your computer with strangers!

8. Disconnect from the Internet when not in use. Remember that the Digital Highway is a two-way road. You send and receive information on it. Disconnecting your computer from the Internet when you're not online lessens the chance that someone will be able to access your computer. And if you haven't kept your anti-virus software up-to-date, or don't have a firewall in place, someone could infect your computer or use it to harm someone else on the Internet. and help protect others: disconnect!

9. Check your security on a regular basis. When you change your clocks for daylight-savings time, reevaluate your computer security. The programs and operating system on your computer have many valuable features that make your life easier, but can also leave you vulnerable to hackers and viruses. You should evaluate your computer security at least twice a year - do it when you change the clocks for daylight-savings! Look at the settings on applications that you have on your computer. Your browser software, for example, typically has a security setting in its preferences area. Check what settings you have and make sure you have the security level appropriate for you. Set a high bar for yourself!

10. Make sure your family members and/or your employees know what to do if your computer becomes infected. It's important that everyone who uses a computer be aware of proper security practices. People should know how to update virus protection software, how to download security patches from software vendors and how to create a proper password. Make sure they know these tips too!

Hope its helpful for you.
